Bears Welcome Bulldogs for Weekend Matchups

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will welcome The Citadel Bulldogs for a pair of matches this Sunday and Monday. Sunday's match is set for 3 p.m., while Monday is set for 6 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 17^th and 18^th meeting between the Bears and the Bulldogs. Mercer has a 14-2 lead on the series. The last matchup between the two schools was back on October 1, The citadel took the match 3-1.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Citadel is coming off a 2-3 loss against Furman on Monday night. The loss puts the Bulldogs conference at 1-3. Their lone win came on Feb. 2 when they beat Western Carolina in straight sets. Outside hitter Mellanie King is the go to for attacks with 114 on the season so far. In the Bulldogs loss against Furman, King registered 20 kills. Sharlissa de Jesus finished that match with 27, making them the first duo to record at least 20 kills in a match. Sophomore Amie Greene leads the team in assists, racking up 211 so far. Dave Zelenock continues his third season at the helm of the Bulldogs.

NOTABLES

As a team, Mercer is at the top of the Southern Conference in service aces with 42 on the season.
Rayanne de Oliveira is second in the SoCon in service aces with 11.
Outside hitter Annie Karle leads the team in double-doubles, registering three on the season; at The Citadel (Oct. 1) and at UNCG (Feb. 7 & 8).
New girl Taylor Lynch has already made her mark on the team, leading with five block solos.
In Monday's match at UNCG, Agnieska Paskevic recorded a season-high 21 assists in the Bears 3-1 win.
