Bears set to play UNCG on Sunday and Monday

MACON, Ga. – Derek Schroeder and the Mercer Volleyball squad will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on the UNCG Spartans for their first pair of conference road matches.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 15^th and 16^th meeting between the Bears and the Spartans. UNCG has a 10-4 lead on the series. The last time the two met was in the 2019 season, when the Bears lost 1-3.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
The Spartans are coming off a 2-3 loss to the Chattanooga Mocs on Monday. Senior outside hitter Maria Esch led the team with 21 kills' total. Hannah Knier capped off the double-digit kills will 11. Gabriela McHugh registered 47 assists for the Spartans. UNCG welcomes five new faces to the squad, including transfers Jenna Wiggs and Beaudine Verweij. Corey Carlin enters his seventh season at the helm of the Spartans.

NOTABLES

Mercer added another to the win column on Monday after a 3-1 upset over the Samford Bulldogs.
Rayanne de Oliveira and Lexi Uhrhan sit at the top of the conference ranks for service aces taking the first and second spot with 11 and eight.
As a team, the Bears lead the conference in service aces (42) and total blocks (41.0).
Annie Karle leads the Bears in kills and points. In her 27 sets played, she has recorded 76 kills and 83.5 points.
