Jada Lewis and Shannon Titus were one of two pairs of teammates to be named candidates for the Senior C.L.A.S.S. Award
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Redshirt senior Jada Lewis and senior Shannon Titus of the Mercer women's basketball team were named candidates for the Senior C.L.A.S.S. Award, the committee announced.
Â
The duo was one of only two pairs of teammates to be named candidates for the award, along with Arizona's Aari McDonald and Sam Thomas. Lewis and Titus are the only representatives of the Southern Conference, as well as the only student-athletes from the state of Georgia to earn candidacy.
Â
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.Â
Â
The candidates will be narrowed to a field of ten finalists in late February, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will then select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition. For more information on the candidates, visit seniorclassaward.com.
Â
The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four® this spring.
Â
Lewis currently boasts a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while pursuing her masters in higher education leadership. She graduated Summa Cum Lade from Georgia State last spring with a 4.02 GPA and a degree in Journalism with a minor in sociology. Upon graduation, Lewis is poised to remain involved in sports as a commentator, journalist, studio host or working as an administrative role at the collegiate level.
