Mercer will play Western Carolina on Sunday and Monday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will head to Cullowhee, N.C. for a pair of matches against the Western Carolina catamounts on Sunday, March 14 and Monday, March 15.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 27^th and 28^th meeting between the two squads. The last time the two teams met was I the Southern Conference Semifinals in 2019. The lower ranked Bears upset the Catamounts in five sets.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
The Catamounts are coming off a 3-0 sweep over the Furman Paladins on Monday. Merry Gebel was the lone Catamount with double-digit kills, recording 11. Destinee Dorsey led the team with 22 digs, followed by Julia Gardon with 15. Johnna Robinson was a brick wall a Furman, registering nine blocks, eight assisted and one solo. Karen Clover enters her 10^th season at the helm of the Catamounts.

NOTABLES

Jaida Howell earned the title of Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for the month of February. She totaled 33 blocks, averaging 1.38 blocks per set.
As a team, Mercer is ranked in the top 50 in four statistical categories in the nation- team kills (722), team service aces (99), team total attacks (1,957), and team total blocks (124.0).
Rayanne de Oliveira is second in the conference in service aces with 21 on the season.
Megan Smith is in the top 100 in the nation for total digs with 210.
