MACON, Ga. – Mercer Women's Basketball Head Coach Susie Gardner announced the addition of graduate transfer Lauren McNamara-Clement to her 2020-21 recruiting class.
Â
Lauren McNamara-Clement
Raleigh, N.C.
Campbell
Forward
6-2
Â
McNamara-Clement comes to Macon after spending the last four seasons as a member of the Campbell Camels. The Raleigh, N.C., native made an immediate impact as a freshman, playing in 30 of Campbell's games during the 2017-18 season and averaging 4.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game. She suited up for 114 games throughout her collegiate career and was influential on both ends of the court. She shot at least 40 percent from the field each season and is a career 44.3 percent shooter. She also pulled down 432 rebounds and blocked 101 shots in her time as a Camel.
Â
The six-foot-two forward is no stranger to success at the collegiate level as Campbell has competed for the Big South Tournament title in each of the last two years it was held. The Camels captured the regular season title with a 16-4 conference record (21-8 overall) in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the conference and national tournaments. Campbell advanced to the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational in 2018-19 after defeating Coastal Carolina, 58-54, and Tennessee Tech, 70-62, in the earlier rounds. During her tenure, the Camels were 75-43 with McNamara-Clement.
Â
McNamara-Clement is coming off her best season at Campbell where she set career highs in nearly every category. She averaged a personal-best 8.2 points per game, going 46.7 percent from the floor (84-of-180). McNamara-Clement also averaged a career-high 5.5 rebounds per game while crashing the offensive glass for 53 rebounds. On the defensive end of the floor, she blocked a personal-best 40 shots while creating five steals.
Â
In addition to her contributions on the court, McNamara-Clement was equally involved in her other extracurricular activities as she was the president of Campbell's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was also a NCAA Student-Athlete Engagement Group selection in 2020.

What Coach Gardner Likes about Lauren
"We are very excited about Lauren coming to Mercer as a grad transfer. Not only will she add to our depth in the post, but she is an exceptional person. We have an amazing culture at Mercer, and as I recruit one of my main goals is to bring in players that will represent our program well in all facets. Lauren is someone who I think will make a difference from day one."
