Bears to visit South Carolina for Tuesday Match

MACON, Ga. – For the second consecutive match, Mercer will face opposition from the Palmetto State, this time against the South Carolina Gamecocks. It will be the first of three trips to South Carolina, the second coming for the Winthrop match in a week. Fans will be able to tune in for the live stream, courtesy of South Carolina's Twitter account.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
This will be the 13^th all-time meeting between the Bears and Gamecocks, with the hosts holding the 12-1 series advantage. The last time these two sides met, South Carolina used a 75^th minute strike from Christian Krause to pull away for the win last October in one of fall 2020's five matches. With the exception of the 2018 season, Mercer and South Carolina have met annually, but the Gamecocks have won four of the last five against Mercer.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Mercer improved to .500 following a 1-0 win over Furman in the SoCon opener for both sides. Trevor McMullen recorded the shutout with a six-save performance in his first-ever match. Kadeem Agard's strike in the 80^th - assisted by Liam Coxhead and Angel Gonzalez - secured the win over the Paladins for the initial leg up in the league standings. Dylan Gaither continues to pace the Mercer attack with his four goals and lone assist. All three of Mercer's victories have featured a clean sheet.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
The host Gamecocks come into the matchup with a 1-5 record, and a 0-1 mark in CUSA play. USC Upstate pulled away from South Carolina when they headed in the ball off of a corner into the net in the 52^nd minute mark. Following a 4-1 triumph over Winthrop to get to .500, the Gamecocks have dropped their last four, including one to archrival No. 4 Clemson in a road contest. Peter Clement leads the South Carolina attack with a goal and a pair of assists so far on the season.
