Kadeem Agard, Trevor McMullen honored by SoCon
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Kadeem Agard and Trevor McMullen have been named the Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the league office. This is the second time this season that Mercer student-athletes have swept the honor and first since the week of August 31, which was the first of the campaign.
Agard, a freshman forward, had a remarkable performance in the SoCon opener versus Furman in front of a raucous crowd on Saturday night at Betts Stadium. He recorded his third goal of the season in the 80th minute to put away past Furman's keeper just inside the six-yard box. Agard was assisted by Liam Coxhead and Angel Gonzalez. The Snellville, Georgia native has scored three times this season, which places him second on the Bears.
McMullen could not have had a better start to his season … and career. The sophomore from Decatur, Georgia stopped six Furman shots in the 90 minutes of action for a perfect save percentage and the clean sheet. His performance included key saves to keep the Paladins off of the board to preserve the result.
Up Next
Mercer (3-3, 1-0 SoCon) will hit the road to face South Carolina tonight in a non-conference showdown in Columbia, South Carolina before stepping back into SoCon play when they visit ETSU on Saturday night. Both matches will kick at 7 p.m.
