Mercer to play Terriers following setback
MACON, Ga. – Following a back-and-forth setback to Furman on Thursday night, Mercer will move on and host the Wofford Terriers on Saturday afternoon in Hawkins Arena. The matchup will feature the SoCon's top two schools.

Furman dealt Mercer their first league loss of the season, 69-66, on Thursday night inside Hawkins Arena. In a back-and-forth contest, the Paladins rode a 25-point final stanza to secure the victory over the homestanding Bears. Amoria Neal-Tysor led the Bears with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Jaron Dougherty, Erin Houpt and Shannon Titus eached notched double-digit points. Offensively, the Bears were limited to just 40.6% (28-for-69) from the field and just 55.6% (five-for-nine) from outside the 3-point line.
Furman's Tierra Hodges notched a double-double that featured 26 points and 15 rebounds, which led the Paladins.

The Bears and Terriers are meeting for the 21st time in the series. Due to the unique 2020-21 season, this is the third consecutive regular season matchup in Hawkins Arena. A season ago, Mercer took all three matchups, including the 60-38 triumph over the Terriers for the SoCon Tournament Championship. Â The Bears hold a 18-2 advantage in the series.

There will be plenty of new faces at Hawkins Arena for the 2021-22 season, as Mercer welcomes eight new student-athletes – Kinley Fisher, Endia Banks, Erin Houpt, Erin Gutierrez, Kassidy Jones, Nigeria Harkless, Ashlee Locke and Lauren McNamara-Clement – to campus.
Scouting the Paladins
Jackie Carman, a senior guard, leads the Terriers in five categories (points, points per game, 3-point percentage, 3s made and field goal percentage). As a team, Wofford leads the league in scoring, averaging just north of 67 points per contest. Winners of their last four (including three league games), Wofford is atop the league's standings coming into the matchup with Mercer.
