Bears wrap up four-game homestand with Bulldogs
MACON, Ga. – Off the heels of a 14-point win over Wofford in their last time out, Mercer will welcome Samford to Hawkins Arena for a SoCon matchup to close out a season-long four-game homestand.

Last Time Out
Mercer responded to its first league loss with a 67-53 win over Wofford last Saturday. Amoria Neal-Tysor was just four steals shy of a triple-double (21 points and 11 defensive rebounds) in leading the Bears to the 14-point victory. The Bears defense held Wofford to just 34.5% (20-for-58) from the field and the Terriers' Jackie Carman to only five points. A 20-point final frame secured the result for the Bears, the 19th win in 21 tries over the opponents from Spartanburg, S.C.

The Bears and Bulldogs are meeting for the 29th time on Saturday afternoon. Despite dropping the last four meetings, Mercer holds the 19-9 advantage head-to-head over Samford. In their last meeting, Samford spoiled Mercer's Diploma Day with a 74-65 win in Hawkins Arena last February.
New Season, New Bears
There will be plenty of new faces at Hawkins Arena for the 2021-22 season, as Mercer welcomes eight new student-athletes – Kinley Fisher, Endia Banks, Erin Houpt, Erin Gutierrez, Kassidy Jones, Nigeria Harkless, Ashlee Locke and Lauren McNamara-Clement – to campus.
Scouting Samford
Andrea Cournoyer, the SoCon Preseason Player of the Year, leads the Bulldogs in every category except for rebounds per game, assists and blocks. In their last time out, Samford outlasted Furman 90-81 as Cournoyer put up 29 points and dished six assists in the home win to up their record to 8-11 and 3-2 in league play. Coming into the matchup, Samford has won three of four and their sole road SoCon game.
