Bears Dominate in Three

MACON, GA - The Mercer Bears claimed a 3-0 win against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this afternoon.Â

Set One | The teams stayed neck and neck for most of the set with Mercer pulling ahead at the first timeout(13-10). Paige Wagers had three back-to-back kills with Jaida Howell also racking up multiple kills to keep the Bears ahead. The Bears refused to give up the lead as Rachel Bell stacked up some kills of her own. Mercer continued to dominate and took the set 25-16.
Set Two |Â This set started off with a big kill from Annie Karle and the Bears continued to build on their momentum. The teams tie multiple times with Mercer leading 15-13 at the time out. Wagers and Karle continued to stack up kills throughout the set. Mercer would hold their lead and take the set 25-17.
Set Three | Mercer continued to dominate in this set with an 11-0 scoring run that showcased multiple kills by Wagers and Howell. UTC would retaliate with a 4-0 scoring run that was cut by a kill from Howell. Kiera McCarles had two service aces to further Mercer's lead and a kill from Karle finished the set 25-19.
ÂNotable Bears
- Paige Wagers led the match in kills(12) with a .500 hitting percentage. She finished with 14 points.
- Kiera McCarles ended with 32 assists with the other close leader being at 11.
- Jaida Howell had 7 blocks to lead both teams. Howell was also second in kills(8) with a .250HIT%.Â

Mercer will return home next weekend to host The Citadel (Nov. 4) and Furman University (Nov. 5).Â
