Endowment established by seven members of the 2021 graduating class
MACON, Ga. - Mercer Athletic Foundation announces The Women's Lacrosse Alumni Endowment established by seven members of the 2021 Women's Lacrosse graduating class. These women include Isabella Yagodich, Iseabal Cryne, Caroline Kerr, Natalie Sannes, Katie Ryan, Samantha Brown, and Sami Van Slyke. Including the COVID shortened 2020 season, this group helped lead Mercer Lacrosse to 31 wins and 3 trips to the NCAA Tournament. Sustained success and post season relevancy are important to this group. "Our team has continued to put our name on the map for Mercer Women's Lacrosse. We have always had supportive coaches, team chemistry, great facilities, and amazing talent. This endowment fund will help our program continue to be even more successful," states Katie Ryan (BUS '21).Â
"This Endowment shows the strength of the women's lacrosse team culture. It is amazing that a collection of very young alums have come together to raise support for this initiative," said Deputy AD and Director of the Mercer Athletic Foundation Brian Gerrity. "My goal for this endowment is to encourage every graduating alum from the women's lacrosse program to make a gift. The timing of this endowment announcement during the 50th year of Title IX shows the power of our women's sports program and is cause for extra celebration."Â
Mercer Women's Lacrosse however, is about more than just the wins and championships. "The friendships and experiences that Mercer Women's Lacrosse have provided me continue to play a huge role in my life. As the program grows, so does the continued success and I am excited to have this endowment fund that contributes toward great coaches, forever teammates, top tier facilities, and defining wins for the Bears," said Caroline Kerr (EGR '21).Â
The familial culture built by Coach Samantha Eustace and her staff is reflected in the altruistic nature of her 2021 alums. "Our program is only eight years old, and I am incredibly proud of these young alumni for taking on such a big endowment project. All of our players have left their mark on this program and will continue to do so with this foundation," says Coach Eustace.
