Mercer travels to Winston-Salem to play ACC member

MACON, Ga. – After having its last two games canceled, the Mercer women's basketball team travels to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to play Wake Forest on Thursday, Nov. 17. Tip off is scheduled for 11 a.m.

This is the first away game of the season for the Bears. These two teams met last season in Macon, in the season-opener for each team. Wake Forest came away with a 68-55 win.

Mercer 76, MTSU 75 (Nov. 7)
Mercer has played just one game so far this season. The Bears won a thriller 76-75 over Conference USA favorites Middle Tennessee State. Summah Evans scored on buzzer-beater to give Mercer the win.

Preseason SoCon Player of the Year, Amoria Neal-Tysor led all players with 32 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Her 32 points were two short of tying her career-high for points in a game. Sophomore Erin Houpt added 18 points and went 9-for-9 from the free-throw line.

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
Wake Forest's two wins on the season were against Elon and West Virginia. Following those two wins to open the season, the Demon Deacons played an early conference game against ACC foe Virginia. Virginia defeated Wake Forest 72-52.

The Demon Deacons are returning four starters from last season's team including 87.2 percent of their scoring from a season ago.

Wake Forest's leading scorer through three games is junior guard, Jewel Spear. Spear averages 18.3 points per game (ppg) and is shooting 50 percent from three-point range. Spear led the ACC in scoring last season at 18.3 ppg.

Opponents are shooting just 26.5 percent from behind the arc against Wake Forest. Wake Forest has struggled from the free-throw line, shooting just 56.6 percent.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the seventh all-time meeting between the Bears and Demon Deacons. Wake Forest leads the series 5-1. Mercer's lone win in the series was the first meeting between the two schools back in January 1979.

STANDOUT STAT
Mercer made 8-of-12 (66.7 %) three-point attempts against Middle Tennessee State. That would be good for the second-highest three-point percentage for the Bears all last season.
