MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's basketball team welcomes Florida Gulf Coast to Hawkins Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
This is the first game of a home-and-home series between the two schools as Mercer will travel to Fort Myers, Florida to play FGCU next Thursday.

Down one entering the fourth quarter, Mercer used a 19-4 run to take a nine-point lead and closed out a 60-57 win over Kennesaw State on Monday evening in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Mercer shot 46 percent from the field to Kennesaw State's 33 percent. Each team struggled from three-point range as Mercer went 2-for-9 (22%) and Kennesaw State 2-for-16 (13 %).
Amoria Neal-Tysor led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go with six rebounds and two assists. Freshman Enjulina Gonzalez tied her career-high with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting with three rebounds and three assists.

Florida Gulf Coast is coming off a 30-3 season in 2021-22. The Eagles went 15-1 in conference play on their way to winning the Atlantic Sun conference and they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
FGCU is led by head coach Karl Smesko. Smesko maintains a record of 619-130 (.826) overall in his career, the third-highest winning percentage among active Division I coaches behind only UConn's Geno Auriemma and LSU's Kim Mulkey.
The Eagles are currently ranked third among mid-major teams in the country according to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. They are the preseason ASUN favorites for the 2022-23 season. Guard Tishara Morehouse was named ASUN Preseason Player of the Year.
FGCU averages 73.5 points per game, second-most in the ASUN. The Eagles like to shoot the three, as they have average 10.7 made 3-pointers per game, tops in the ASUN and fourth most in the country.
FGCU's leading scorer is Alyza Winston who averages 13.9 points per game and ranks second on the team in field goal percentage at 50.5 percent. The Eagles have two players averaging better than 3.0 assists per game in Emma List (3.7 apg) and Tishara Morehouse (3.1 apg).
Guard Brylee Bartman has made 18 field goals this season for the Eagles, all coming from 3-point range. She is shooting 48.6 percent from deep to lead all ASUN players.
