
Mercer Drops Wednesday Matinee at Georgia, 84-44

Bears shot 52.9 percent from three-point range
ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia shot 51.6 percent from the field and defeated Mercer 84-44 on Wednesday afternoon from Stegeman Coliseum.
The Bears were 9-for-17 from three-point range, but shot just 33.3 percent from the field and made eight two-point shots for the game.
Amoria Neal-Tysor led the Bears with 13 points. Erin Houpt scored all nine of her points from behind the arc and led the Bears with four rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer got off to a slow start, missing its first four shots to go with six turnovers before Neal-Tysor scored the first points of the day for the Bears to make it 13-2 Georgia. The last three baskets for Mercer were all from three-point range from Neal-Tysor, Houpt and Jaron Dougherty.
A layup from Enjulina Gonzalez in the first minute of the second quarter made it 25-13 Georgia. The Bulldogs would then go on a 12-0 run to stretch its lead to 37-13. Georgia outscored Mercer 20-7 in the second quarter to take a 45-18 lead into halftime.
Mercer's offense had its best quarter of the game in the third quarter scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting. In the fourth quarter freshman Layla Hood scored her first career point on a made free-throw and later made her first career field goal as she finished with three points and a steal.
NOTABLES
Mercer is back on the road as they travel to Troy, Alabama to play Troy University on Saturday, December 10. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
