Bears and Cougars to play three game set

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will host SIUE in a three-game nonconference series at OrthoGeorgia Park this weekend, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Bears (5-0) are off to a strong start, having swept both series to start off the year. Tickets for all three games are available for sale at tickets.mercer.edu or by calling the Mercer Ticket Office at (478) 301-5470.

Friday nights pitcher, Josh Harlow (1-0) is making his second start for the Mercer this year. In his last start against EKU on February 18, 2022, he went 5.0 innings pitched, 10 Ks and only gave up two hits.
Saturday's pitcher Fred Wilson (1-0) is expected to make his second start of the year on Saturday. In Fred's first start of the year against EKU on February 19, the left-handed pitcher went 5.0 frames, with 11 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs on 2 hits and 3 walks.
Sunday's pitcher Tanner Hall (1-0) made his first start on February 20, 2022, after sitting out the 2021 season with an injury. Tanner picked up his first win of the season against EKU with 3 punchouts in 3.0 shutout innings.

Scouting SIUE Cougars
The Cougars are 1-2 on the year, falling to Southeastern Louisiana twice in a three games series on opening weekend. The picked up a win in game three with the final score being 10-3.

In the preseason polls, the Cougars were predicted to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference.

On the year, the pitching staff for Cougars have given up one homer and has 2.16 ERA as staff with a combined 31 Ks on the year.

Offensively, the Cougars are led by junior outfield Braedyn Brewer who has a .333 batting average and has four hits on the year.
