
Bears’ Final Results at Furman

Mercer falls short at the Sage Valley Golf Club
GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - The Bears fell short, with a final of 2.5 to 1.5, at the Sage Valley Golf Club against Furman in Graniteville, South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.
Ethan Werblo and Bryce Werblo were the only Bears to obtain a full point in the Fourball Match Play style matchup. Following their scoring success, the Jonsson and Plukka pairing was able to tally another half point for the Orange & Black. From there, the Bears fell short in Graniteville giving up the next two full points to the Paladins ending the day with the final score of 2.5 to 1.5.
MERCER SCORING:
1. Tobias Jonsson & Martin Plukka : Halved their match in doing so .5 points were given to both teams.
2. Jonathan Parker & Kenny Park : Lost their second and third match in which a point was received by Furman.
3. Jay Spivey & Trey Mixon : Lost their second and third match as well, where Furman earned another point.
4. Ethan Werblo & Bryce Werblo : Won their match two awarding a point to Mercer.
COACH PAYNE'S THOUGHTS:
"Although, we didn't receive the results we were looking for, the match was a great experience for our program. Playing at a world class golf course with such great completion not only tested this team but made us a better squad. It was truly a rememberable experience."
UP NEXT:
Mercer will return to action on Sunday, March 20th as they host the Linger Longer Invitational. The three-day and 54-hole event will be hosted in Greensboro, Ga. at the Great Waters Golf Club.
