Mercer shuts out Saint Peter's in Sunday set
MACON, Ga. – Mercer completed the three-game sweep of Saint Peter's Sunday with a doubleheader sweep at OrthoGeorgia Park. The Bears won the opener 19-0 and then claimed the nightcap by a score of 22-0.

Mercer (16-1) hit six home runs in the two games, including five 3-run blasts.

In the opening game of the day, the Bears scored three runs in the first inning, but it was a 9-run second that included two homers which put the game out of reach.

Treyson Hughes started the home run parade with a three-run bomb to push the lead to 8-0. Bill Knight accomplished the same feat, belting a three-run big fly over the wall in left center, which gave Mercer a 12-0 advantage.

Jozsef Rohrbacher came off the bench in the fifth and turned on a pitch for a three-run homer. It pushed the lead to 17-0.

A Trevor Austin sacrifice fly and Antonio Brown RBI single capped the scoring for the Bears.

Mercer tallied 15 hits overall in the first game of the day. Brown led the way with three singles. Hughes finished with 5 RBIs.

Wesley Franklin (2-0) earned the win after striking out a season-high seven in five stanzas.

In the nightcap, the Bears scored runs in five of its six trips to the plate.

Mercer started the scoring with a four-run first, paced by Ryan Archibald's three-run homer.

Collin Price hit his own three-run roundtripper in the third, pushing the advantage to 9-0.

Angelo DiSpigna also added a two-run dinger in the fifth, part of a seven-run inning.

The Bears rolled four more runs across the plate in sixth to finish off the scoring for the weekend.

Mercer racked up 16 hits in the finale, including seven that went for extra bases. Hughes was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs to pace the offensive attack. Archibald and DiSpigna drove in four runs apiece.

Josh Farmer (3-0) earned the win in the run-rule victory. The righthander fanned six in 4.0 innings.

The Bears will return to action Wednesday night against Georgia Southern. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
