THE COURSE:
The University of Georgia Golf Course opened in 1968 with the purpose of supporting the university community and a collegiate golf program. Over the years the course has become an important recreation facility not only for the University, but for the state of Georgia as a whole. Dr. Omer C. Aderhold served as the University of Georgia's President from 1950-67 and was a driving force behind the creation of the UGA Golf Course. The University already owned the land and Dr. Aderhold was a friend of Robert Trent Jones Sr., the golf course's architect. In addition, UGA students were so interested in having a golf course that they agreed to pay for it in their student activity fees over a five-year period during the 1960s.
The Mercer Women's Golf Team finished tied for 14th (898, +34) in the Clover Cup at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. Senior Carol Pyon shot an even score to open up the Bears scoring in the first round of the Clover Cup. Impressively enough, freshman Kate Song eventually carded a 71 (-1) in the second round, which would be the only Bear to record an under-par round of the tournament. Â

Round 1: 301
Round 2: 295
Round 3: 302

TEE TIMES:

"We're grateful for this opportunity to be invited by Georgia to play in the Liz Murphey. I knew Coach Murphey from my collegiate days and she was an inspiration to so many women and had a had a huge impact on women's college golf. Â
The Georgia Golf Course is not only a challenging course, but it's also such a beautiful piece of property with rolling terrain. It is always a tough contest at the UGA course and that'll be highlighted with the unfavorable temperature and winds that are currently being forecasted.
