"We are honored to play and compete at such an astounding course in a city with such legendary history. We did ourselves a favor and started off where we knew we could make a positive swing on the second day," head coach Payne said. "We had a solid couple of first round performances where many guys were able to step up and showcase their abilities. With that being said, these guys will continue to strive for excellence and I know we're capable of achieving it. This team is still looking for a strong finish on the final 18 and once we do that, then we'll be able to accomplish something pretty special. I'm really proud of [Ethan] Werblo showing up and showing out for us this weekend and I look forward to seeing how this season will come to end once we put the final pieces of the puzzle together."
UP NEXT:
Mercer will return to action on Monday, April 11 as the Bears set out to compete in the Wofford Invitational. The two-day and 54-hole event will be hosted in Spartanbug, S.C. at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
