Some 120 area citizens provided lessons and more at Stephens Tennis Center
MACON, Ga. – In addition to competing in their respective athletic venues and succeeding in the classroom, Mercer student-athletes continue to make valuable contributions in the community. Eleven Mercer tennis players joined with several local professionals on Friday, Aug. 26 to participate in the Back To Tennis Bash Community Event at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
"Macon has such a strong community tennis association and this clinic is just another example," Mercer tennis head coach Eric Hayes said. "The team's involvement will take place all year."
Some 120 Macon area citizens were provided free lessons, drills, live music and food at no charge, sponsored by the Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department and the Macon Area Tennis Association. The sponsors noted that the success of the event was elevated by the presence of having local college tennis players helping young people with the lessons.
