The Bears look to build off their impressive showing last week

MACON, Ga. – The Bears take the short trip west to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Auburn Tigers in their first away game of the 2022 season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Scouting Auburn

Auburn's head coach Bryan Harsin will begin his second season at the helm of Auburn. The Tigers are coming off a 6-7, 3-5(SEC) season in his first year as head coach.
Auburn returns 17 starters from last season's team, (7-offense, 7-defense, 3 special teams).
T.J. Finley is the expected starter at quarterback after serving as the backup quarterback to Bo Nix. Finley did play in nine games last year for the Tigers and completed 70-of-128 (54.7%) passes for 826 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Auburn brings back two talented running backs from last season in Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter. The duo averaged a combined 130.2 rushing yards per game last season, led by Bigsby who finished the season with 1,099 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Auburn had five players selected as preseason all-SEC players.

BEARS LOOKING TO BUILD ON RESOUNDING WIN

Mercer will try to carry over its momentum and confidence from last week's 63-13 win over Morehead State
The Bears' offense set a school record for total yards in a game with 625 yards
Ty James currently leads the country in receiving yards after his 192-yard performance against the Eagles.
The rushing attack also was working for the Bears as they ran it for 359 yards, led by Austin Douglas who rushed for 140 yards on just five carries and had two touchdowns.

Six Bears Tabbed with Preseason All-league Honors

Six Mercer football student-athletes were voted onto the 2022 Preseason All-Southern Conference teams, as announced by the league office at its annual Media Day.
A pair – John Thomas (OL) and Lance Wise (DB) – were selected to the First Team while four – Isaac Dowling (LB), Ty James (WR), Trey Turk (P) and Solomon Zubairu(DL) – were tabbed to the Second Team.
