MACON – Mercer served Furman their second straight 3-0 loss and got their second straight 3-0 win after the Paladins fell to Chattanooga and the Bears beat ETSU on Friday.

This exciting match was energized by a great fan base at Hawkins Arena. The Bears posted a .303 hitting percentage over the Paladins' .120 while also outdoing the team in service aces and blocks. Lillian Beardsley led all players in blocks with six total. Set three was the only set that the Bears did not start in the lead and did not take a lead until over halfway through. Near the end of each set, once the Bears got rolling toward a win, the momentum built and Furman could not stop it.

The Bears travel to Birmingham on October 12 to play Samford at 7 p.m.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-18	Mercer scored the first two points of the match from a kill and service ace by Kylee Quigley. The largest lead of the set came as the set closed, with Mercer winning by seven.
SET 2 I 25-15	Set two's point differential never exceeded two points until the Bears went on a 6-0 run from 16-15 to 22-15, forcing a Furman timeout. After the timeout, the Bears scored three more points to end the set on a 9-0 run.
SET 3 I 25-20	There were seven ties in set three but only one lead change on the way to sweeping the Paladins. Furman started out the set in the lead, but after a tie at 13-13, the Bears took the lead and ran to the match point.
