MACON – Defender Sekou Agard added another postseason honor to his already impressive collegiate resume on Friday when he was named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-South Region.
Agard, a junior from Snellville, Ga., was a vital piece to the Mercer defense during the 2023 season, logging a team-high 1,888 minutes of playing time and spearheading a defense that limited opponents  to just 4.2 shots on goal and 1.05 goals per game. Agard also found the back of the net twice this season, one being a game-tying goal against top-seeded East Tennessee State in the 81st minute of the SoCon Tournament semifinals.
Agard was named a 1st Team All-Southern Conference selection this season and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Southern Conference Tournament as well. Following the season, Agard was named as a United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third team at the start of December.

A standout in the classroom as well, the computer engineering major was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District squad in late November.
