MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's basketball team continues its three-game road trip to conclude the regular season, at Furman Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET.

The Mercer women's basketball team used a big second half to turn a halftime deficit into an 70-59 win over Samford Saturday afternoon.
Trailing by four at halftime, Mercer outscored Samford 42-27 in the second half. Mercer shot 56 percent from the field in the first half after shooting just 35 percent in the first half.
Freshman Enjulina Gonzalez led all scorers in the game with 25 points on 12-for-20 (60%) shooting. She had 12 of Mercer's 28 points in the first half to keep the Bears within four at halftime.
Amoria Neal-Tysor had 21 points, with 19 coming in the second half. In the second half Neal-Tysor was an efficient 8-for-12 from the field.
Erin Houpt had 13 points, including 10-for-10 from the free throw line and she knocked down important free throws over the final minute of the game to seal the win for the Bears.
SCOUTING FURMAN
The Paladins were picked to finish third in the eight-team league in the preseason coaches poll. Mercer won the first meeting between the two teams this season 56-42 in Macon.

The Paladins have struggled offensively in conference play, ranking seventh in scoring offense (56.9 ppg) and last in field goal percentage (35.5%). Defensively, they lead the SoCon in 3-point field goal percent defense as opponents are shooting just 30.3 percent from behind the arc.
Furman's biggest strength is rebounding where they lead the SoCon averaging 39.7 rebounds per game. The Paladins average more than 15 offensive rebounds per game. The Paladins have three players averaging more than six rebounds per game in conference play, Sydney James, Jada Session, and van Rij.
Furman's leading scorer in conference play is forward Grace van Rij who is averaging 12.5 points per game. She is also second on the team in field goal percentage at 49.5 percent.
