
Bears Battle Against Southern Mississippi

HUNTSVILLE, AL. – The Mercer bears would fall to the University of Southern Mississippi in a 2-3 dual on Friday, April 28 in Huntsville, Alabama. Friday's matches would be played normally due to no inclement weather in Huntsville.
On court number five, Reese Hood and Hollis Engel were defeated by USM's Cassidy and Garraway in two sets. The score of the first set was 17-21 and the score of the final set was 21-19. On court four, Alyssa Scoggins and Kathryn Corbett would defeat USM's Rough and Perry in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-15 and the score of the second set was 21-12. On court two, Nicole O'Mara and Kate Hardie defeated USM's Phelan and Pierce in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-18 and the score of the second set was 21-19. On court one, Lexi Polychrones and Jordan Paddock would be defeated by USM's Hurnikova and Chudzik in two sets. The score of the first set was 18-21 and the score of the second set was 17-21. Sydney Benson and Jordan Morris were defeated by USM's Sandlin and Siakidou Papakyriankou in a three-set match. The score of the first set was 21-18 in favor of the bears. The Golden Eagles would take set two by a score of 15-21. The bears would fight hard in the final set but would lose it by a score of 15-17.
