Mercer Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

Bears posted a 3.339 team cumulative GPA in 2022-23
MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer baseball team was one of 130 Division I baseball programs to receive the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award.
As a team, the Bears posted a 3.339 cumulative GPA in the 2022-23 academic year.
The award highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2022-23 academic year. Mercer was one of three Southern Conference teams to earn the award along with The Citadel and UNCG.
The team had seven players earn Southern Conference Commissioner's Medals for having a minimum 3.80 GPA for the year.
The ABCA has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
