Volleyball Heads To Tampa For Bulls Invitational

MACON – The Mercer volleyball team will continue its early-season stretch away from Macon on Friday and Saturday when the Bears pack up their show and head to Tampa, Fla., for the South Florida-hosted Bulls Invitational inside USF's The Corral.

The Orange & Black (1-2) will open their portion of round-robin tournament play on Friday at 10 a.m. when it suits up to take on Florida Gulf Coast (1-2). The Bears will get a short rest following that matchup, but will return to The Corral on Friday afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest against Idaho State (0-2).

Mercer will close out its stay in Tampa on Saturday when it locks horns with USF (0-2) in a 2 p.m. matchup on ESPN+.

The Bears opened their 2023 campaign last weekend, posting a 1-2 clip at the Alabama-hosted Crimson Tide Invitational in UA's Foster Auditorium. Mercer dropped a tough 5-set heartbreaker to Saint Louis in its season opener, but rebounded on day one with a sweep of Mississippi Valley State.

Mercer will open up the home portion of its 2023 regular season schedule on September 14 against Georgia Southern. First service for that matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Hawkins Arena.
