Cook and Thomason with Mercer's goals
CHARLESTON, S.C. – After trailing at halftime for the first time this season, Mercer got second half goals from senior Kendall Cook and freshman Larkin Thomason to defeat College of Charleston 2-1 Thursday night at Ralph Lundy Field.
Kendall Cook scored less than three minutes in to the second half on a left-footed shot from just outside the box. Cook also factored in to the game-winning goal as she had a great touch on a through ball to Thomason who was in alone on the Cougars keeper and slotted home her fourth goal of the season in the 56th minute.
Mercer outshot College of Charleston 18-14, including an 11-7 shots on goal advantage. Mercer's Lindsay Bell came up with numerous key saves throughout the game and finished the night with a season-high six saves.
The Bears return home on Sunday for Senior Day. Mercer will welcome North Florida to Betts Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
