MACON – Mercer Volleyball opened up conference play tonight hosting the Wofford Terriers. The Bears never let a set get out of reach but could not rally enough to get a win.

With nine lead changes and 16 ties throughout the match, Hawkins Arena was full of energy from both sides of the court. A variety of Mercer players stepped up to make set-saving and momentum-building plays, including key kills by Kylee Quigley, Gia Padilla, and Skyler Bumpers who were often set up well by one of Kiera McCarles's match-leading 18 assists.

The Bears host UNCG on September 23 at 6 p.m. at Hawkins Arena in Macon.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 23-25	In a high-energy first set, the score gap never reached more than four points, and there were 10 ties and eight lead changes. After being down 22-18, Kylee Quigley recorded three kills in four plays to boost the Bears back into contention for the set, but Wofford took the win following a timeout at a score of 24-23.
SET 2 I 16-25	Wofford scored first in set 2 and kept the lead until the end of the set. Mercer came within one point multiple times, with the last at 8-7.
SET 3 I 20-25	The Bears scored first in set three, but fell to be down a max of seven points at 20-13. Kills by Kylee Quigley and Gia Padilla propelled the Bears to finish the set with a 6-3 run, but the Terriers reached 25 before the momentum could snag a lead.
