
Three Bears Earn Academic All-District Honors

Bachman, Dykes and Engles named to Academic All-District Team
MACON, Ga. - Three Mercer women's soccer players garnered College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades for the 2024 season.
Sophomore Anna Bachman, junior Lena Dykes, and senior Sara Engels were all named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the Bears.
CSC seeks to honor and celebrate student-athletes who represent the highest caliber of academic and athletic achievement through the annual Academic All-District and Academic All-America programs.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must compete in 90 percent of their institution's contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the contests and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 GPA scale. No student-athlete is eligible until they are at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Â

Sophomore | Defender | Jacksonville, Fla.
Anna Bachman played in all 19 games for the Bears, making 17 starts. Bachman finished the season with a career high two goals and eight points. Her eight points were tied for fourth most on the team. Bachman had four assists marking the second straight season the outside back had at least four assists on the year. Bachman scored her first career goal against Berry at home on August 19. This is Bachman's first career CSC Academic All-District recognition of her career.
Lena Dykes

Junior | Defender | Panama City Beach, Fla.
Lena Dykes started in all 19 games for the Bears, and was named Second Team All-SoCon for the 2024 season. Dykes had two goals and four assists on the season for eight points which was tied for the fourth most points on the team with Bachman. Both of her goals were game-winning goals. She played the second most minutes on the team among field players with 1,591 minutes for 83.7 minutes per game. This is Dykes' second consecutive CSC Academic All-District recognition of her career.
Sara Engels

Senior | Midfielder | The Woodlands, Texas
Sara Engels started in all 19 games for the Bears, and was named Second Team All-Socon for the 2024 season. Engels had a career season for the Bears offensively with career highs in goals (4), assists (5), and points (13). Her 13 points were third most on the team. Two of Engels' four goals on the year were game-winning goals. This is Engels' second consecutive CSC Academic All-District recognition of her career.
