| MERCER/JACKSONVILLE SERIES | |
| Jacksonville leads the all-time series, 19-16, but Mercer stopped a two-game series skid with a 74-63 win over the Dolphins last season in Macon. The squads played a home-and-home series as Atlantic Sun Conference rivals every season from 2000-14 before the Bears joined the Southern Conference. Jacksonville won each of the next two matchups, including a 71-66 triumph in Swisher Coliseum on Jan. 2, 2019 – the last meeting between the two sides on JU's campus. | |
| SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS | |
| The Dolphins returned nine players, including four starters, off of last year's squad that posted an 11-20 record, including a 6-10 clip in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Among the returners is senior guard Edyn Battle who currently paces Jacksonville with 18.6 points per game, including 7.6 points an outing from the charity stripe. Fellow returning starter Saniyah Craig is averaging 7.4 points and a team-best 10.4 rebounds an outing. The Dolphins rank 5th, nationally in both free throws made (18.5) and attempted (26.5) per game. | |
| LAST TIME OUT | |
| Austin Peay shot better than 51 percent from the field, including a 55 percent performance in the opening half, to key a 66-53 win over Mercer on Sunday afternoon in northwest Tennessee. Junior Ariana Bennett scored nine of her team-best 13 points in the second half, and finished the afternoon with one assist and a trio of steals as well. Bennett was 5-for-6 from the field. | |
| ON DECK | |
| The Bears will close out their three-game road trip on Saturday when they make the short hop over to Daytona Beach, Fla., to battle Bethune-Cookman (2-4) inside Moore Gymnasium. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. | |
