
Bears Become Winningest Team In Program History After Sweep Over Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE - The Mercer volleyball team becomes the winningest team in program history with 21 wins on the season, following a Wednesday sweep over Western Carolina. The Bears move to 11-1 in the conference, remaining in the number one spot.
Gia Padilla hit an impressive .692 with nine kills and also added on 12 digs and two service aces. Skye Ekes recorded a math high of 11 kills with two service aces in the victory. MeMe Davis and Brooke Phillips combined for 26 digs and Lou Johnson put up four block assists on the afternoon.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow night in Greenville, S.C. to take on the Paladins of Furman University at 6 p.m. The match will not be streamed but will have live stats available, provided by the Furman athletics department.

Abbey Havrilla was strong behind the service line recording a service ace a a five-point service run to put the Bears up 12-5. A Bumpers kill ended the set, sending Mercer to set three up 2-0. | |
SET 3 I 25-15 | Mercer once again got off to a 3-0 start following back-to-back kills from Ekes and Henry. The Catamounts found a last-minute burst of energry to come within five points but Mercer shut them down with four wins to grab the sweep. | Â |
