Mercer Bears
Mercer (13-10, 7-4Â SoCon) enters the midweek match after dropping their last two matches to Western Carolina over the weekend. Prior to this past weekend, the Bears sat in a tie for first in the SoCon after winning their last four matches, defeating Tennessee Tech and Furman twice each to put them at a 7-2 SoCon record. Mercer has been strong at home, going 6-2 overall and 4-0 during conference play, but Samford presents a new challenge as the Bulldogs took down the Bears in four sets the last time these two teams met in Birmingham. Joselynn Sanjurjo led the offense with 13 kills during that match while Aubri Martin locked down the back row, recording 22 digs across the four sets.Samford Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (10-11, 7-4 SoCon) split their weekend series against Tennessee Tech and have gone an even 3-3 after their midweek match against Mercer. Samford dropped both matches to Wofford before rebounding to sweep The Citadel heading into their weekend against Tennessee Tech. The Bulldogs have a strong front row as Ally Cordes ranks third in the SoCon in kills/set at 3.80 and Hazel Slusher leads the SoCon in blocks/set at 1.36 and total blocks with 98.
