MACON, Ga. – Sammi Bergjans was named SoCon Setter of the Week for the third time this season after her performance against the Furman Paladins over the weekend.
Bergjans recorded 86 assists (9.56 assists/set) while adding 30 digs (3.33 digs/set) across both matchups. She also added eight kills, three blocks, and a service ace. The junior opened the weekend with her ninth double-double this season, totaling 43 assists, 12 digs, three kills, and a block. The Missouri native then repeated that success on Saturday with her tenth double-double of the season, recording 43 assists, 18 digs, five kills, two blocks, and a service ace.
Bergjans first earned SoCon Setter of the Week honors alongside fellow teammate Aubri Martin, who was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week, three weeks ago. After taking a one-week break, Bergjans has since earned Setter of the Week honors in each of the past two weeks following her performances against Samford and Tennessee Tech last week and against Furman over this past weekend.
Mercer Volleyball will be back in action this week as the team faces Western Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
