Sammi Bergjans Named SoCon Setter of the Week

MACON, Ga. - Sammi Bergjans earned her second SoCon Setter of the Week award after her performances against Samford on Tuesday and Tennessee Tech over the weekend.
Bergjans totaled 110 assists (10.0 assists/set) while adding 17 digs, 11 kills, four service aces, and two blocks over the past week. She opened the week against Samford with 42 assists, seven digs, a season-best six kills, and a service ace. The junior setter followed up that performance by totaling 68 assists, 10 digs, five kills, three service aces, and two blocks as the Bears defeated the Golden Eagles in both matches over the weekend.
This marks the second time Bergjans has earned the award this season. She first received the award after the opening week of conference play when both Bergjans and fellow junior Aubri Martin earned SoCon weekly awards with Martin taking home SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Mercer Volleyball will be back in action this weekend as the team travels to South Carolina to take on the Furman Paladins on Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17.
