MERCER/FLORIDA ATLANTIC SERIES
Mercer has captured 24 games in the 39-game-old series with Florida Atlantic, and will ride a four-game series win streak into Saturday's matchup in Boca Raton, Fla. The squads met twice annually from 1992-2006 as Atlantic Sun rivals before FAU bolted for the Sun Belt Conference prior to the 2006-07 campaign. The Orange & Black have captured all four meetings since that move, including a 70-62 win in Macon last year.
SCOUTING THE OWLS | |
The Owls return five players from their 2023-24 squad, highlighted by double-figure scorers Jada Moore and Mya Perry. Moore is the Owls' returning statistical leader in rebounding (5.9 rpg), assists (2.3 apg), and steals (1.2 spg). Perry is the team's returning statistical leader in scoring (11 ppg), 3-point field goal percentage (.386), and 3-pointers (66). FAU added eight newcomers to its roster as well, including a trio of transfers. The Owls dropped an 82-54 contest at Florida in their season opener on Monday evening.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS
Mercer shot nearly 59 percent from the field, registered 44 points in the point and finished the evening with a 35-19 edge in the rebounding column as the Bears successfully kicked off the Michelle Clark-Heard era in Macon with a 75-52 rout of UNC Asheville on Monday in Hawkins Arena. Mercer got double-digit scoring numbers from four different players on the way to posting a win in its home opener for the third-straight year.
ON DECK | |
The Bears will open up a two-game home stand on Tuesday when they suit up to battle Western Kentucky in Hawkins Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by visiting MercerBears.com/Tickets.
