Bears Tangle With Tulane In The Big Easy

MACON – The Mercer women's basketball team will continue its road schedule on Sunday afternoon when the Bears trek to The Big Easy to take on Tulane inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Fans unable to make the trip to New Orleans, La., can still follow the action for free via a live statistics link provided by the TU athletics department. The game is also scheduled to be broadcasted live on ESPN+.

ABOUT THE BEARS
The Bears (4-7) dropped the second leg of a two-game home stand on Sunday via a 78-42 setback to undefeated Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets scored 21 points off of 20 Mercer turnovers and turned 15 offensive boards into 16 second-chance points. Junior Ariana Bennett (9.2 ppg) and senior Ashlee Locke (9.1) have combined to score more than 18 points an outing for the Orange & Black. Bennett has connected on nearly 50 percent (.493) of her field goal attempts this season and has already registered five double-digit scoring outings. Locke complements her scoring numbers with 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Mercer has connected on 73 percent of its free throw attempts this season, while also tacking up nearly 13.3 points per game from the charity stripe. MU also ranks 29^th, nationally, with just 14.2 fouls per game. The Bears and Green wave have split two previous meetings in the all-time series. Mercer captured the initial meeting with Tulane, 79-67, way back amid the 1983-84 campaign, while the Green Wave posted a 64-58 win over MU in mid-November last season.

ABOUT TULANE
The Green Wave (4-4) have now captured three of their last four outings with Tuesday's 67-61 win over visiting North Dakota State. Tulane combined for 42 points in the second (20) and third (22) quarters, and limited the Bison to just 37.5 percent shooting in the final period to seal the outcome. Senior Sherese Pittman has tallied 10 or more points seven times this season, and paces the Green Wave with 14.9 points per game through eight outings. Three starters for the Green Wave – graduate Victoria Keenan, freshman Kendall Sneed and junior Amira Mabry – have connected on at least 45 percent of their field goal attempts so far this season. Tulane showcases one of the American Athletic Conference's (AAC) best perimeter defenses, and has held their opponents to sub-25 percent shooting from the perimeter in six-straight games. The Green Wave has also out-rebounded five opponents in 2024-25, including a 22-rebound disparity in their 40-point win over Jackson State.
