MACON – Home-standing Mercer canned better than 65 percent of its field goal attempts amid a torrid second-half shooting effort, but visiting Appalachian State limited the Bears to just a trio of made field goals in the first stanza on the way to a 74-61 win over the Orange & Black on Saturday in Hawkins Arena.

The setback marked the fifth-straight loss for the Bears (4-10) who will now get an 8-day break from competition before closing out the calendar year at Kennesaw State on December 30. The triumph snapped a three-game skid for the Mountaineers (4-6) who improved to 5-1 all-time in the series with MU.
