
Volleyball Concludes 2024 Season After Loss To UConn

GREENVILLEÂ - The Mercer volleyball team closes the curtain on their historic 2024 season after suffering a loss to the University of Connecticut in the opening round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championships on Thursday.Â
Ekes recorded a match-high 13 kills, her 29th match this season posting double-digit kills. Sophia Henry hit .278 with six kills at the net while MeMe Davis put up 12 digs and added four assists from the back row. Brooke Phillips and Sammi Bergjans combined for 23 assists throughout the three sets played.
The Bears left their mark on the record book this season coming away as the first outright regular season conference champions, winningest team in program history, first time in program history to go undefeated at home, first conference player and setter of the year awards, led the NCAA in service aces and received their first postseason tournament invite.Â

However, it was not enough to shut down UConn's big block at the net, forcing a must-win set three. | |
| SET 3 I 12-25 | The Huskies took advantage of the momentum swinging their way and ran with it taking an early lead from the Bears. Mercer was not able to pull together a comeback as they played their final minutes of the record-breaking 2024 season. | |
