
Mercer Falls 79-46 At Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Mercer men's basketball team (11-14, 4-8 SoCon) got a 28-point performance from its bench, but fell 79-46 to the Western Carolina Catamounts (18-7, 7-5) on the road Saturday.
David Thomas led the Bears with 18 points. Jah Quinones also added five points and six rebounds off of the bench, and Caleb Hunter chipped in as well with seven points.
Led by TJ Grant's four offensive rebounds, Mercer crashed the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer struggled out of the gate, falling behind 33-19 heading into halftime. Western Carolina continued to widen its lead after intermission, constructing a 73-37 advantage before Mercer went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Quinones' three, to shrink the deficit to 73-42 with 3:00 to go in the contest. Western Carolina responded and outscored the Bears the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 79-46. Mercer capitalized on six Western Carolina turnovers in the period, collecting seven points off those turnovers.
