MACON – The Mercer baseball team (6-1, 0-0) rides a six-game winning streak into a midweek series with Florida A&M (4-3, 0-0) on Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch of both games will be at 6 p.m.

| Mercer swept Monmouth over the weekend, winning each game by a greater margin. Friday's 6-5 win was secured with a seventh-inning, two-run homer on Jackson Cherry's first at bat of the season. The Bears first stepped up to bat on Saturday trailing by two but took the lead in the third inning and extended it to the finish, winning 9-7. Four home runs in Sunday's 10-1 win helped propel the Bears to a dominant sweep of the Hawks. Junior first baseman Parker Lester earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors after totaling nine hits in 14 at-bats across four starts last week. He hit .643 at the plate with four doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. |

| Florida A&M opened the 2024 season with two wins and two losses at home. They won the series over Eastern Illinois 2-1 then lost to Troy the following Tuesday. On the road at the Andre Dawson Classic in Vero Beach, Fla., FAMU defeated Grambling State 7-6 and Southern 16-1 but lost to Prairie View A&M. Senior True Fontenot leads the team at the plate, batting .571 and has sent in five runs in 14 at-bats. Senior Caleb Granger has pitched 10.0 innings and holds a 2-0 record as the starting pitcher against Eastern Illinois and Grambling State. He gave up only four runs and struck out seven batters. |
