Beach Splits Pair Of Decisions At Duuuval Duals

MACON – Beach Volleyball split a pair of decisions on day one of the Duuuval Duals, dropping their opening match 5-0 to host North Florida, before bouncing back to take the 4-1 victory over Jacksonville.

The Bears were swept by the Ospreys despite a gutsy performance from the No. 2 pairing of Nicole O'Mara and Jordan Paddock. The duo dropped the opening frame 8-21, before recovering to take the second 21-15, but fell in the deciding set, 9-15.

The No. 3 pairing of Lexi Polychrones and Reese Hood, as well as the No. 4 pairing of Katy Dalton and Kathryn Corbett defeated their opponents in straight sets.

O'Mara and Paddock once again took their dual to a three-set affair, defeating Jacksonville 21-15 before dropping the second set 18-21, but outlasting their opponent in the third, 16-14.

At No. 5, Liv Diaz and Hollis Engel took their match to a third by swapping 21-12 decisions in the first two sets, before defeating the Dolphins 15-8.

The Bears are back in action tomorrow to face Jacksonville at 9:00 a.m., before concluding the event against Florida Gulf Coast at 1:30 p.m.
