MACON -- The Mercer Bears (11-7, 0-0 SoCon) rallied from down 3-2 to defeat the Siena Saints (0-14, 0-0 MAAC) 6-4 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Junior Colton Cosper (2-1) got the win for Mercer (11-7). The left-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing no walks and striking out two. Senior Wesley Franklin also pitched well, going two innings, surrendering one run on one hit, walking none and striking out two.

At the plate, the Bears were paced by senior Noah Best, who went 1-for-3 on the day with two walks and an RBI. Senior Conner Todaro put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Junior Bradley Frye also helped out for Mercer, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mercer put two runs on the board in the first inning but didn't register another hit until the eighth inning.

The Saints then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-2 lead before the Bears got back on the board in the eighth. The Mercer offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run walk off the bat of Jackson Cherry. Siena put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Mercer still held on for the 6-4 win.
