KAUA'I, HAWAII - Camilla Järvelä had a first round of even par, 72 to lead the Bears who as a team sit in a tie for 11th place at 10-over, 298 after the first round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational from Kaua'i, Hawaii.
Tracy Rodriguez also had a round of 72, but is competing as an individual. The first round saw a wide range of scores among the 15 teams in the field as Arizona State leads the field at 8-under, 280. The Sun Devils were one of five teams to have a round under par on Sunday.
Järvelä's round of 72 included back-to-back birdies at the turn on holes nine and 10. She played the par 5s 1-under par for the day. Mikayla Dubnik and Katie Scheck each had rounds of 3-over, 75.
The second round on Monday will begin at 9 a.m. Hawaii standard time / 3 p.m. eastern from a shotgun start.
