
Mercer Garners A 4-3 Win Over Troy

TROY, Ala. - The Mercer women's tennis team earned a hard fought 4-3 win over Troy on Saturday in Troy, Alabama.
Since getting fully healthy, the Bears have been playing well as this is Mercer's fourth consecutive win.
Mercer got the day started by winning the doubles point. Mercer's Teodora Ristic and Marina de Diego Quinones were excellent in a 6-0 win over Troy's Emilia Namyslo and Maria Guirguis. Then, Mercer's Emilia Cosatto and Lea Falentin won their doubles match over Troy's Leena Metwally and Valeriia Avdeeva, 6-3.
Mariella Minetti and Tea Zivic were leading in their match over Troy's Kristina Kukaras and Gabrille Leslie, 4-2 before the match was called with Mercer clinching the doubles point.
In singles play, Troy won the first match to finish as Leena Metwally defeated Mercer's Emilia Cosatto, 6-3, 6-3. Court three saw a great match that went was ended in just two sets as Falentin defeated Troy's Maria Guirguis, 7-6, 7-5.
Teodora Ristic edged out Troy's Kristina Kukaras, 7-5, 6-4 for Mercer's third point of the day. The other three singles matches all went to three sets.
Troy's Amin Hagar defeated Marina de Diego Quinones 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to keep the Trojans in the match with the score at 3-2. Mercer's Mariella Minetti clinched the match for the Bears when she defeated Troy's Valeriia Adveeva 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.
Troy's Gabrielle Leslie who entered Saturday undefeated in singles matches this season was tested by freshman Tea Zivic but Leslie ultimately prevailed in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Next, Mercer will travel down to Tallahassee, Florida to play Florida State on Sunday at noon in a quick turnaround.
