MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's tennis team is back on the road for two games this weekend. First the Bears take on Troy on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Troy, Alabama. Then, Mercer goes to Tallahassee, Florida to play Florida State on Sunday at noon.
Mercer (6-3) is riding a three-match win streak into the weekend. Mercer most recently defeated Georgia College in dominant fashion, winning 7-0.
Troy also enters Saturday's match with a 6-3 record. The Trojans are coming off a close 4-3 win on Thursday against fellow SoCon member Samford.
The Trojans continue to be led in singles play by Gabrielle Leslie and her perfect 8-0 record. Leslie went 2-0 last week and was announced as the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week earlier today. Troy will look to improve their doubles play, which has struggled this spring. Troy is 4-5 in doubles and is 2-3 in matches this spring when losing the doubles point.
Mercer's trip to play Florida State on Sunday will be the third consecutive year the Bears have traveled to Tallahassee. Florida State is 5-4 on the season and is coming off a monumental 6-1 win over No. 14 Duke at home last Sunday.Â
The nation's 55th-ranked singles player Ellie Schappe is the reigning ACC Player of the Week after earning three wins last weekend.
