GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dominant pitching by UNC Greensboro's Rob Ready led the Spartans (12-10, 1-1 SoCon) past the Bears (14-8, 1-1 SoCon) 6-1 on Saturday night.
Senior Graham Yntema started and took the loss on the mound for Mercer.
At the plate, the Bears were paced by Conner Todaro, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Ben Olson put together a solid performance at the dish as well, coming in as a pinch hitter, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Parker Lester also helped out for Mercer, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Bears first put a run on the board in the fifth inning. Mercer got an RBI single from Olson, scoring Lester from third base. The Bears were unable to get any closer, as UNC Greensboro added one run to their tally on the way to a 6-1 final.
