
Mercer In Fourth Place After Second Round At SoCon Championship

Bears tied for lowest second round score on Monday
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Mercer shot a second round of 8-over, 296 which was tied for the best second round score of the day and enough to move the Bears up three spots on the leaderboard to fourth place following the second round of the SoCon Championship from Moss Creek Golf Club.
For the tournament Mercer is 33-over, 609 and is 20 shots back of leader ETSU who is 13-over, 589.
Camilla Järvelä had a strong second round, carding an even par, round of 72. The round was enough to move Järvelä 17 spots up the player leaderboard and into a tie for 15th place.
Eujin Pyon also had a good round of mostly mistake free golf with a round 1-over, 73 that included 17 pars. Pyon moved up seven spots and into a tie for 10th place at 6-over par. Pyon trails co-leaders from ETSU and Samford by six strokes who are even par for the tournament.
Katie Scheck is the third Mercer player in the top 15 after two rounds as she is in a tie for 13th place at 7-over par for the tournament. Scheck had a second round of 3-over, 75 that included birdies on two of her last three holes.
Mercer leads the field in total pars with 117. Pyon leads all 46 players in pars with 29 through her first 36 holes.
The Bears will begin the final round Tuesday as Tracy Rodriguez will be the first Mercer golfer off the tee at 8:30 a.m.
