MACON – Mercer (19-16, 3-6 SoCon) and Wofford (25-10, 6-3 SoCon) will meet this weekend for Mercer's last home series until May 16. The Bears swept the Terriers in last season's series in Spartanburg.

Friday's first pitch is at 6 p.m., and all games will be streamed on ESPN+.

GAMEDAY INFO

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS

Mercer upset No. 8 Florida State in Tallahassee 13-6 on Tuesday. Parker Lester hit a solo home run in the second inning to put the Bears ahead 1-0. Florida State scored two runs in the third inning, but Mercer fired back and had a seven-run fourth inning, topped off by a Noah Best grand slam, to turn the momentum in the Bears' favor for the remainder of the game. Ty Dalley also hit a critical 3-RBI double in the eighth inning to extend Mercer's lead from 10-6 to the final score of 13-6. Wesley Franklin started on the mound for the Bears, pitching three innings and was followed by Jess Ackerman who recorded three strikeouts in 1.2 innings before getting hit by a ball. Colton Cosper pitched the final 2.1 innings to be credited with the save and recorded three strikeouts in eight batters faced.

SCOUTING REPORT

Wofford is currently second in the Southern Conference with a 6-3 record, including two wins over UNC Greensboro, one over VMI, and a sweep of The Citadel. The Terriers most recently defeated Presbyterian 24-3 in seven innings. Head Coach J.J. Edwards has been on Wofford's coaching staff since 2011. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2021 and is now in his first season as Head Coach. As a team, Wofford leads the Southern Conference in batting average (.351) and RBI (355) and is second to Mercer in ERA (5.60). Three of the top five players in batting average are Terriers, led by fifth-year senior Brice Martinez (.426). Catcher Lucas Manning leads the SoCon in on-base percentage (.622). Wofford's Camden Wicker tops the charts in ERA (2.7) and opposing batting average (.206), and Zac Cowan is second in strikeouts (65).

LOOKING AHEAD

Mercer will travel to Statesboro to play Georgia Southern on Tuesday, April 23, and the Eagles will come to Macon on Wednesday.
