
Mercer Falls To High Point In First Game Of Doubleheader

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The Mercer Bears (22-19, 4-7 SoCon) fell to the High Point Panthers (24-20, 11-4 Big South) by final score of 7-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday.
Sophomore Jess Ackerman started and took the loss on the mound for Mercer. Graham Yntema finished out the game on the mound and recorded three strikeouts. Both pitchers worked for four innings.
Offensively, the Bears were led by senior Conner Todaro, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Noah Best also went 2-for-4. Senior Ben Olson also contributed for Mercer, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears put their lone run on the board in the fifth inning when Parker Lester crossed home plate. This cut the Panthers' lead to three at a score of 4-1. High Point scored in two of the three remaining innings to end the game at 7-1.
GAME NOTES

» Todaro led the Bears at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double.
